You know they say "Opportunity knocks on your doorsteps only once". Well, it is knocking at my door and I was standing in front of it ready to answer. While struggling in 2006 and 2007 to learn affiliate marketing, so far a complete and total failure, I did what seems to be a very, very smart thing. I purchased Article Directory Pro and started an article directory of my very own called Moxie Drive Expressions. I had originally intended to use it as an SEO boost to my main page, which still shows up #1 in Google for "internet home based business" and has 958 well placed keyword search terms in SEODigger.com, traffic that does not matter or make any money at all. I developed the original categories based on home based business and internet marketing topics with a smidgen of self help articles. The article directory floundered for a year and a half until September 2007 when I ran out of money completely, shutting down my host. My spouse was kind enough to pay for my hosting fees and get the website back up. Moxie Drive Expressions received the first of 50+ Iphone articles in November 2007 and it was on. I started a W3C html validation campaign in November 2007, a bookmarking campaign in January 2008, and continued to approve articles. I sensed, like many, that this new niche was going to blossom, and it did. Moxie Drive Expressions continues to get 500+ unique visitors a day to Iphone related articles. Apple has sold 5 million Iphones at this point in time. On this Friday the 11th of July 2008, Apple is releasing the 3G version of the Iphone and analysts are anticipating selling 18 million in the next 6 months and the rest of 30 million in 2009. Moxie Drive Expressions continues to rank well in the search engines for Iphone related terms. We are in the right place at the right time and I am on the edge of my seat to see what happens next. Of course, it is not the only niche that is getting traffic from the search engines. I have since broadened my view and am getting good amounts of traffic for about a dozen other niches. The number of niches continues to grow. I am using my talents, a degree in information technology, html programming, SEO, publishing and writing, website analysis and design, and others. I am glad to say that I do not use any kind of email promotion (spamming), or spend a lot of time on the telephone. I put in about 2-3 hours of honest work a day and then either go back to sleep, look at and work on the garden, watch TV, and when the time comes, cook for my lovely spouse in expectation of her return from slavery, I mean her job. I have finally gotten to the point where I am no longer desperate to make money online. I am making money online, just not the way I was originally expecting to, with affiliate marketing, thanks to Apple and the Iphone. My work continues to increase the Adsense income that Moxie Drive Expressions generates. According to the reports, this has doubled since March 2008 and continues to show signs of increase. It is finally enough to keep my spouse from complaining. So, yes, I am happy with my business. As long as it is productive, I will continue to remain in "semi-retirement" and tell the slave drivers where to put it...
