Just made the Top Mixxer in the Last 24 hours. Also attained Thought Leader, and top 10 for two posts to Mixx.com

Mixx is a gas!

I have not been able to get the traffic that I have gotten from my Stumbleupon account, but I sense that, if Mixx keeps growing the way it has, that I will. Just got to keep posting and socializing.

I am finding that I am using Mixx.com more and more every day. It is easier to use than any of the other social sites in my experience. Digg is too slow. I do like their shout mechanism. It is used to garner votes from friends. If they are paying attention, it is possible to reach page one in Digg. I have not yet.

Mixx also has a shout mechanism that works about the same as Digg. Mixx is fast, fast, fast.

The keynote to all of this is that Mixx is working for me...because I make it work. I follow the basic principles that I wrote about in my blog post titled Stumbleupon - Advanced Tactics

I have found many social site members join, post maybe once, and then nothing. You cannot expect loads of traffic this way. You cannot expect to get a lot of friends this way. The results will reflect your social networking efforts. You have to get involved in a big way to get big traffic.

I follow and post to Mixx.com from over 50 blogs on a daily basis. This list is growing. When social site members realize that you are not just posting your own stuff, they will be more willing to follow you because you are presenting a variety of interesting content. You have your finger on the pulse of the news and blogshpere.

Most social site members do not take advantage of the tagging features if they are available. Remember, social sites also have value, and generate traffic, from their search feature. Tagging is also an opportunity to improve the SEO of the post's landing page. Tagging has value when it comes to your personal web projects. I don't understand why this feature is not used profusely.

Finding friends in Mixx is easy. Steal them from other Mixxers. There is nothing illegal with adding members to your MixxFriends list from someone elses list.

Getting them to add you to their MixxFriends list is a different story. This comes with applying the basic principles of social networking, and voting on other member's posts. Make them believe that you are their friend and they will be your friend.

Add value to their posts freely and they will add value to yours.

Continue to not practice these social networking principles and your social networking efforts will remain handicapped.
