Nobody every said it was going to be easy for the latest "Digg-Killer". Mixx.com has been having some growing pains of it's own that have come to the surface. I received a kind message from Kori Hill, the product manager of Mixx.com, saying that I was submitting posts to inappropriate groups. So I started digging, not to be confused with the social site. What I found was amazing. I found two posts in particular that had excessive tags and had been added to groups that just did not make any sense at all. Personally, I do not think that anyone posting material to Mixx.com in good conscience could have done this on purpose. The two posts that I am referring to can be found at: http://www.mixx.com/stories/44962/reddit-is-more-political and http://www.mixx.com/stories/43586/internet-marketing-best-blog-posts-of-2007 The tags certainly look like someone was playing. Over in the unofficial Mixx forum there is some speculation, but so far no real suspects stepping up to the bar. Kori Hill's latest email to me explains just how much control Mixx.com has over tagging and adding posts to groups.
I think also that the group problem is complicated by the fact that when you share a post with a group, it gets added to that group automatically, something I actually confirmed with this post by sending it to the Mixxed Not Stirred group. This is an indication that Mixxers need to be careful who they send to. So, before we go pointing the finger, please remember that Mixx is still a work in process. I'm sure that Kori and the staff are well aware of this problem and a solution is on the way.
