I've been bothered for over a year now about how Blogger posts show up in the search engines. Sorry to say that even Google's own blogger tool does not always present the desired results. As a matter of fact, it is built in such a way that it is designed to dump all posts into their own supplemental index. Sad at best.

There is a reason for this. The title of this blog is "Turnkey Business Blog". Every post indexed by Google is considered a duplicate entry because they have the same title. Blogger has the same problem with the description.

Now, try to fix this. My attempts included making the post title, identified as <$BlogItemTitle>, the actual meta title of the posts. Guess what shows up when I change it? <$BlogItemTitle> in that form.

So, I have deleted the meta title as well as the table that contained it and the meta description, again another duplication. Now all you will see is the post title and the body of the post. No fancy header tables, just straight into the content. I have seen many WordPress blogs without title or description metatags, some of them very successful.

Will it prevent my posts from getting dumped into the supplemental index?

Only time will tell.
