Of course, once you finally lay your hands on your very own Iphone 3G you are going to want to do something with it. You will probably call all of you friends and family announcing the great news that you are the proud owner and may have the need to pass out a new phone number to them. You may then want to figure out how to get you email and start on the road to making it a productivity tool.
How about play? Games can last awhile, but eventually get boring. A song lasts an average of 3 minutes. That is where the movies come in. There are thousands of movies that you can download to the Iphone 3G and a number of places that you can get them from.
The first, of course, is the Itunes store. Easy to access and download to your Iphone 3G via your home computer, this is probably the most convenient to use as Apple has made it that way, at a cost. Movies can be rented at $2.99 each and purchased for between $9.99 and $14.99 and up, they seem to be stuck on this pricing. Buying 16 premium movies from the Itunes will set you back about $240.00 at $14.99 each!
So, you start to consider free or almost free methods of getting movies onto your Iphone 3G. There are two.
Torrent Sites: Each torrent user supplies bits of the full torrent file to users without those particular bits, while receiving bits that they do not yet have. Sounds complicated, huh? This is also called "file sharing". You can download a full length movie in the correct format for the Iphone 3G...if you can find it. With practice, this is possible in a torrent site. The risk is that you leave your PC open to viral infection if you happen to download the wrong file. You can read the comments made by other torrent users to determine the safety of the file, but this is no guarantee. The other downside of using a torrent site to download is that it takes a very long time to download a file the size of a movie, at least overnight and maybe more.
The second is a compromise between the Itunes store and a torrent site. The advantages are that there is only a one time membership fee of between $35 and $50, after that you can download unlimited movies to your Iphone 3g for free. Download speeds are greatly increased compared to the torrent sites as the membership sites maintain their own databases of movies. The membership sites also keep their files free of viral infections and, like Itunes, they are easy to use. What a deal...
