If you don't own the database or are not at least able to download it, then you do not have your own affiliate program. If you have a limit on the number of products the price, and the control of your creatives, then you don’t have your own affiliate program. If you are not able to directly contact your affiliates, then you do not have your own affiliate program. If you don't have your own affiliate program that you are in complete control of, then you don’t have you own affiliate program.
You worked hard to develop your product and it’s the core of your business. Your affiliates are cogs that make the machine function more effectively. Why would you entrust this to just anyone?
In order for your affiliates to operate at an efficient level they must be trained. They need to know how to sell your products and how to increase sales. In order for you to offer them the support they need to do this you need to control your affiliate program.

By using an automated affiliated management program you can easily train, manage, and reward your affiliates all from one system.
An automated system frees you from the limitations you experience with programs like Clickbank. Granted, Clickbank is useful in its own right but for a business owner who wants absolute control of his or her business it is not the best option. Programs such these have no database, and having someone else have control of your database is the same as having someone else have control of your business. Is that what you worked to produce your business for--to give it up to someone else?
An automated system imposes no limits on price, the number of products, or messages you can send to your affiliates.
Your affiliate program should have a wide range of marketing creatives to choose from. Thus the system you use should let you upload both text and graphic ads to your affiliate center. You can come up with your own creatives and upload them, ready-made for your affiliates to use in their promotional efforts (i.e. banners, classifieds, ezines, etc.).
You can also use an autoresponder to send your affiliates a training series, marketing tips or offer them a larger commission as an incentive to upscale their marketing efforts.
The possibilities are almost endless when you have an automated affiliate management program because there isn’t a third party setting ridged limitation on you. You own your business and you are controlling your affiliate program business.
