A Closer Look at Affiliate Marketing...

One of the most common means of making money online is creating and maintaining a web log, more commonly known as a blog. In order to establish your blog well in cyberspace, you need to employ affiliate marketing, which is a form of revenue sharing venture between an online merchant and a website owner, wherein the website owner will place advertisements on his site to send direct potential customers to the merchant’s site or help sell the products or services offered by the merchant in return for a share in the profits.

There are basically three ways to earn money through the use of affiliate marketing, namely through the pay per click model, pay per lead model, and pay per sale model. In essence, in any of these models, a certain amount of money, percentage, or commission is deposited into the affiliate’s account whenever traffic, which may bring in sales, is directed to the merchant’s site because of the advertisements placed in the affiliate’s site.

If you wish to pursue affiliate marketing to gain profits from your blog, it’s strongly suggested that you research on the subject before settling for this avenue. There are cases where an ad is placed for months on an affiliate’s site before a potential customer clicks on the link leading to the merchant’s site and/or purchases the product or service offered. Moreover, if the commission only involves pennies, both the affiliate and the merchant may feel frustrated. It’s best if both the affiliate and the merchant ensure a mutually beneficial relationship.
