In The Heights show opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on March 9, 2008. The show is directed by Thomas Kail and the book is written by Quiara Alegria Hudes. The music and lyrics are given by Lin-Manuel Miranda while the music direction is done by Alex Lacamoire. Andy Blankenbuehier has showed fantastic choreography skills in the show. The costumes are designed by Paul Tazewell while the scenes are designed by Anna Louizos. The lighting arrangement is done by Howell Binkley and sound effects are by Acme Sound Partners. The show is a product of a highly creative team.
The lead star cast of In The Heights include Mandy Gonzalez, Karen Olivo, Janet Dacal, Priscilla Lopez, Olga Merediz, Carlos Gomez, Seth Stewart, Robin De Jesús, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Christopher Jackson, and Andrea Burns. The other star cast includes Rogelio Douglas Jr., Michael Balderrama, Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Doreen Montalvo, Krysta Rodriguez, Afra Hines, Nina LaFarga, Stephanie Klemons, Luis Salgado, Joshua Henry, Tony Chiroldes, Shaun Taylor-Corbett, Javier Muñoz, Rickey Tripp, Blanca Camacho, and Eliseo Románand.
In The Heights is a show depicting a community that lives in the heights of an island located in Manhattan. There are three generations in the community. Each one of them is striving to prove their mettle. The community is on the brink of evolution and the generations want to make an identity of themselves before this happens.
The entire story is woven with dreams and aspirations of the generations. It creates a beautiful tale of struggle and strong bonding amongst the community members.
