A few years ago, if you searched for something in a search engine, you were invariably given a choice of company owned websites to visit. Now if you search you are much more likely to be visiting a blogging site to get the information you need.
Blogs and blogging are HUGE on the Web these days! The term, "blog" arose from the rather antiquated term, 'web log.' Like many words in the colloquial English language, especially Americanized English, the original term was shortened to the fast, easy term, blog. Originally, blogs were mostly personal diaries and journals (albeit very public ones), where people like you and me could provide thoughts and ideas on a particular subject of interest.

The reason that blogging is one of the easiest ways to make money online is that the search engines often show blogs very high up the listings when people search for a subject. The search engines love authority sites that are not soley designed to sell products but give valuable information out to visitors.
So, it's pretty easy to get started with making money blogging. You can have a site up and running in no time with all the free blogging software and blogging tools available on the Internet today. And many times, your blog will be listed in the search engine within weeks, or sometimes even hours! And that means plenty of free traffic for your site. You need traffic... if no one visits your site, it's kind of hard to make money, right?
But, I'm sure you're wondering, how does it really work to make money blogging?
Well, in very simple terms this is how you make money from blogging. Imagine that you have a blog talking about your passion for German food and that you have a link from that page to a cookbook that you strongly recommend and on which you get paid a percentage of every sale. Get the idea?
Another common idea is to do a one page review of two different products in your blog. You might rate one as 5/5 and the other as 4/5, but provide links to both that enable you to get a commission on any sales. It does not matter which product is bought by your visitors, because you still get paid.

Now let's take it a step further and imagine you set up two blogs per day for 30 days and each generated an average payment to you of $5 per month. It's easy to get started; just go to Blogger.com and register for a new account. Follow the prompts and online help from there. If you've seen a blog with a URL that includes something like http://myblog.blogspot.com, that's a Blogger blog. It's free and easy, Google hosts your blog for free, and they tend to index the Blogger blogs pretty quickly.
But Blogger does have some limitations, and for that reasons, millions of people have gone with Wordpress, another free blogging platform. You CAN host your Wordpress blog on their site, but you'll get a lot more out of the software if you have your own webhosting site. That will cost you a few bucks, but you can find reliable hosting accounts for as little as $5/month, and since you plan to make at least that much with your blog, it's worth it, right? Wordpress is free and there are tons of free templates and all kinds of free plugins available that can really help you with great blogging, if your goal is to make money blogging.
