Three Academy Award Winners play main roles in the robust and immensely entertaining film. Nicholas Cage, who won Best Actor for Leaving Las Vegas, is back as the thrill-seeking, adventurer and treasure-hunter, Ben Gates. Once again Nick Cage is outstanding � he takes the viewer along on the ride of a lifetime as he follows clues around the globe.
A globe-trotting, treasure-hunting Ben Gates is back. Gates is played magnificently by Oscar-winning Best Actor, Nicholas Cage who reprises the role. The film finds Gates on a quest to find the Lost City of Gold. The adrenaline-pumping caper takes Ben and his band of fellow-travelers from Washington D.C. to Paris to London and back again! Shot on location, the film shows off Washington and the European cities at their absolute best.
The cast includes three Oscar-winners! Watching Nicholas Cage, Jon Voight and Helen Mirren together is worth the price of admission, or in this case downloading. Nicholas Cage reprises the role of protagonist globe-trotting adventurer, Ben Gates. This time Gates is on a hunt to find treasure in the Lost City of Gold. Through many twists and turns, visiting Washington D.C., London and Paris along the way, Ben pursues the clues one by one. Eventually, he discovers the final clue, but it comes with some big strings attached. In order to have the clue revealed, Ben is told he must kidnap a prominent U.S. government official. This plot twist adds to the mystery and excitement.
Nicholas Cage is not the only Best Actor Oscar-winner in the film; he is joined by the equally talented Jon Voight, who plays his Dad, Patrick. Patrick is an intellectual and a bit whimsical. He enjoys treasure-hunting and is delighted to join his son on this romp. Ben�s mom is played by Oscar-winning Best Actress, Helen Mirren. As always, Mirren is superb as Dr. Emily Appleton.
The Plot Thickens - National Treasure 2 (as it is also referred to) finds Ben on a relentless and mind-blowing search for the Lost City of Gold; the film is a delightful mixture of real history, myth and mystery. Ben's quest to find the lost city leads him to one final clue which reveals the only way he can find the Lost City of Gold is by kidnapping a high-level member of the government! Talk about your interesting plot twists, this has to be one of the best! The viewer is taken on an adrenaline-pumping adventure from the start of the movie until the credits roll.
The final clue, however, will not be revealed until Ben kidnaps an important American politician. Ben is aided and accompanied by love interest, Abigail Chase, played well by relative newcomer, Diane Kruger. Ben, Patrick, Emily and Abigail take viewers on a once in a lifetime ride full of surprising twists and turns. It would be virtually impossible to be bored watching this movie.
