Comparison between Online E-learning Degrees and Traditional systems...

Courses

Online courses have a very well structured curriculum. The focus is on concrete information. The curriculum underlines the need of useful information that can be used by students in practical use or on the job. Because the information is specially designed to be used not only memorized it is also easy to remember and assimilate in your day-to-day job.
Classical institutions of learning have a big curriculum which most of the time cannot be even taught, because it is too much information and too little time. The curriculum has been made taking into account everything besides the students. The information supplied is very diverse but most of the time it does not satisfied the need for practical information. You are asked to know a lot but you are not taught how to use the information.

Schedule

Online courses that offer degrees have a very flexible schedule. It offers the student the possibility of learning and studying whenever he has the time or will. The student has plenty of time to be engaged in other activities, besides learning and can even have a job. You are left free to make your own schedule.
The schedule or timetable in a normal learning institution is very rigid. It leaves no time for the student to do anything else. The focus is on the course hours and nobody takes interest if the student has plenty of time to study or to learn. The institution builds the schedule without any regard to the student.

Pedagogical model

Online courses that offer degrees base their pedagogical model on learning new information. Valuable things are taught by using the power of example or practical activities.
The focus of a typical learning institution is on quantity. The students are expected to learn as much information as they can in a limited period. You have to remember everything with no or little practice, only by memory. Because most of the provided information is abstract, it is very hard to take that information and actually apply it at your job or real life.

Gathering of information

On one hand, we have e learning which basis its entire curriculum and teaching methods on two fundamental concepts: modern and up to date. All the information supplied to the student is up to date and applicable in real life situations. It also concerns the needs of present day society and your needs.
On the other hand, the traditional learning system focuses on abstract knowledge. This type of knowledge sounds good but has little or no practical use in society. It is not based on models or logical structures, it is only abstract knowledge.

Sanctions

On one hand, we have the e-learning courses that consider your time important. Because this system is more flexible, there are no sanctions. You will not get a bad grade for not participating, because presence is something irrelevant.
On the other hand, if you are listed as a student at a traditional learning university you will be sanctioned in case you cannot attend the courses. You may find yourself in the delicate position of none being allowed to take your exams because you do not have enough presence. This is the worst-case scenario. Usually your grade will be affected in case you do not attend every seminar or course. Your grade that reflect your knowledge will not reflect only this but also irrelevant things such as presence.

Exams
If you are a student in an e-learning system, you can sustain your exam whenever you have the necessary time. The schedule is set for a couple of days. During this period, you can choose to attend the exam. The schedule is very flexible and you do not have to worry of missing it.
In a traditional learning system, you do not get to choose when you take your exams. You have to take the exam along with the other students. There is no flexibility and if you miss the rigid date of the exam, it is considered that you have failed it.

Seminars

In the e-learning system, you can access the relevant information any time you want. All of the seminars are based on creative and open communication and the exchange of ideas.
While that is true in the e-learning system, in the traditional system communication does not play such an important role. The main method used during a seminar is repetition of theoretical notions and truths stated by the teacher. You are not allowed to come with your own interpretation.

Teachers

The e-learning system because it is so modern and dynamic can only accept dynamic and open to communication teachers. The teachers struggle to make you understand and use the concepts involved in the curriculum. Their aim if for you to understand and apply everything that has been taught during the learning year.
Often teachers in traditional universities are not ready to listen to the demands and problems of the student. They are not interested in creating a proper environment for direct and efficient communication.

The curriculum

The internet and is changing every day. Because the e-learning system is a part of the internet, it is too in a permanent process of changing and upgrading its methods. It takes into consideration the needs of the students, and because those needs change in accordance with society, it changes to adapt to them. Occasionally the e-learning systems conduct research on the needs of the students.
