Families that barely got by from paycheck to paycheck have suddenly found themselves having to scramble to keep gas in their car and get to work. Employers are reconsidering whether to add new workers and enlarge their business. In many cases, employers are not replacing lost employees.
Politicians were caught off guard or do not care. Oil companies certainly are happy, although they must try to hide this from their customers. There is no relief in sight. As far as I can tell, we are on our own. Don't expect prices to magically fall. Don't expect the new administration to have the answers. They just don't.
What can we do? We can try to use less fuel by consolidating our trips to town. Try to stay out of slow traffic and consider cutting off the engine when idling for more than a minute. Keep the engine in top shape. The list of things we can do to be more efficient is quite long.
There is something else we can do. We can consider using alternate fuel sources. One of these is hydrogen. Hydrogen is an element found in gaseous form most of the time or in combination with oxygen to form a solution we all know as water. Hydrogen will burn and can be used to supplement the gasoline or diesel we use in our automobiles and trucks. The process of separating hydrogen from water and getting it to your car is within the realm of most of us if we just have the information. There are several sources online that can explain the process and how to get the necessary materials to do the job. You won't be running your car on hydrogen alone. You still have to buy fuel, but you should get more miles per gallon and thus save money.
And, you will have done something about the problem. Instead of just sitting around and waiting for someone to do it for you...it might be a long, long wait!
