Before you can download PS3 games, or anything at all for that matter, there are a few things you will need:
1- A computer-Sony are too clever to let you download games directly onto the PS3 itself, so for the time being they have to go onto the computer first. It may change in the future, but for now you're stuck with it.

4-This is the most important thing-you need a reliable and trustworthy place to download PS3 games from. This is tricky as people that know about sites like these tend to keep them to themselves. And by the way, I don't mean some kind of shady torrent or P2P site. Those are illegal and will probably kill your computer. Torrent sites are a real hacker's paradise, so if you have used sites like that in the past, it's a good idea to get your computer checked.
The kind of sites that are safe are the newer sites that are emerging these days. They work by offering a very limited membership-you make a one off payment to gain access to their database of software, and then you have access to it for the rest of your life. It's usually pretty reasonable, less than $50, and you will not only be able to download PS3 games but you will also be getting things like movies, music videos and TV shows. All unlimited, and at a high speed. Sites like this can really change the way you view your console!
