Now that you know the basics of link exchanging, lets get a little more advanced to really drive that number up there.
Keep in mind, that even though exchanging links with websites is a good thing, and never a bad thing, that not all exchanged links are created equal.
"But Bruce you said in the previous article that in order to increase your Google page rank you need to exchange links?" That is true, I did say that. However before I continue, let me say this. I am a firm believer that you should trade links with everybody and anybody. The more the merrier. Not only with websites that are in similar content with yours, but those that have nothing to do with what yours is about.
So what is all this talk about not all links being created equal? Very simply put, the higher a website`s page rank, that points back to your website, the more favorable it is looked upon by Google.
For example. A website that points a link back to you, that has a page rank of four will have a stronger affect in the Google algorithm, than that of a website that has a Google page rank of one. For the simple, commen sense reason of, since a higher ranked website links back to you, then that is enough evidence by Google to let them know that your site must be important to have this high ranking site link back to you.
Now this doesn`t mean that exchanging links with a website that has a page rank of one is a bad thing. It doesn`t mean that Google looks at that and says, "must be a bad site". It just means that a higher ranking website will carry more weight when Google runs its quarterly indexing program to rank the billions of webpages out there.
So in closing, do your best to exchange links with a higher Google page rank than yours as it will carry more weight. At the same time, do no t neglect those sites who are ranked lower than yours, as they will not bring you down either.
